Below is a list of some of the common ingredients found in some of your favourite foods and even some of the foods marketed as “healthy” and for your kids from ice cream, baking and pastries, cookies and crackers, cereals, diet/sugar free food and drinks, “healthy choice” frozen foods, cheese, yogurts, “granola” bars, condiments and sauces, lunch meats and so much more and here is why you should avoid them like the plague or they can eventually make you sick like you had the plague :p Sure you can indulge in your favourite treats every now and then but be safe and make your own instead from real and raw ingredients for better health and longevity. These ingredients are the ones less discussed aside from the high amounts of unhealthy fats like palm kernel oil and sugars like high fructose corn syrup in these foods.
Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose – useful in textile finishing and printing, detergent, insecticide, oil well drilling operation, paper industry, leather, paints, foundry, ceramic industry, welding electrodes, crayons and pencils, explosives, plywood, food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and adhesives. It is used as a laxative and as a lubricant in eye drops. It can lead to intestinal blockage, abdominal pain, overgrowth of bacterial flora and interfere with drugs.
Tartrazine – derived from coal tar to make pavement, used as an artificial colouring in food and personal care products to make more visually appealing or appetizing, also used in the printing, textile and paper-manufacturing industries
Hydrolyzed Soy or Vegetable Protein- surprise but this is really a hidden way of getting MSG (monosodium glutamate) into your food.MSG has been shown to have negative health effects on your vision, your brain and your endocrine system really throwing your health out of whack and the fact that this is in many “diet” foods is odd
These are just a very few ingredients and believe me if you pick up packages of some of the so-called-healthy foods and even worse, the ones that are not even marketed that way, you would be SHOCKED if you actually took the time to read the label. Really you should avoid packaged foods anyway but I wanted to give you some insight as to some of the reasons why. Do you really want to be ingesting or even worse feeding your children things that make stuff you walk on, drink out of or colour your walls with?!?!
